After much anticipation of BEFFTA 2020/21 nominees announcement, Europe’s biggest award ceremony celebrating black and ethnic personalities in entertainment, film, fashion, television and arts has finally released one category  on new year’s eve just before the midnight hour. The grand 12th BEFFTA awards nominations proves to be the most diverse so far with new categories added including BEFFTA diversity award, Diverse TV station of the year , Diverse company of the year and many more. With over 6000 guests in attendance  annually BEFFTA awards, founded by entrepreneur, TV presenter and philanthropist Dr Pauline Long in 2009 is back to celebrate greatness within the African, Caribbean and Asian communities but this time virtually for the first time due to Covid-19

The 12th BEFFTA UK anniversary is expected to be celebrated in a very grand prestigious style bringing together several international and UK stars virtually with a common goal to celebrate and honour both unknown and known hard working and extremely talented personalities in entertainment, film, fashion, television, arts, leadership, business, charity and sports.

BEFFTA awards has made history by being the only and first award ceremony to be fully funded by the founder Dr Pauline Long.

With legendary TV personality Sir Trevor McDonald OBE,  entertainment icon Sir Lenny Henry and music mogul Quincy Jones celebrated with BEFFTA UK lifetime achievement awards,  BEFFTA awards UK team looks forward to celebrating yet other deserving legend who will be revealed soon.

BEFFTA founder Dr Pauline Long said, ” A couple of years ago I actually thought about doing BEFFTA virtually due to the global demand, however now it has come easy. The team and I look forward to celebrating even more amazing personalities. We at BEFFTA will continue to carry on with the spirit of giving back.”

In his statement BEFFTA Chairman Chief Bimbo Roberts Afolayan said, I’m proud of the team at BEFFTA for the work they do all year round led by the founder Dr Pauline Long. It is important that we continue to celebrate excellence.

BEFFTA Awards is releasing the nominations in stages, the first set of nominations released on 31st December 2020 are BEFFTA WOMAN OF THE YEAR and BEFFTA MAN OF THE YEAR . Europe’s biggest award ceremony celebrating black and ethnic personalities in entertainment, film, fashion, television and arts has officially opened it’s grand 12th year anniversary public nominations a few weeks a go.  The team is busy preparing for the 1st ever virtual BEFFTA awards globally. With over 6000 guests in attendance  annually BEFFTA awards, founded by entrepreneur, TV presenter and philanthropist Dr Pauline Long in 2009 is back to celebrate greatness within the African, Caribbean and Asian communities.

The 12th BEFFTA UK anniversary is expected to be celebrated in a very grand prestigious style bringing together several international and UK stars virtually with a common goal to celebrate and honour both unknown and known hard working and extremely talented personalities in entertainment, film, fashion, television, arts and sports.

BEFFTA finally takes the awards to different cities in the UK as Birmingham becomes the first host BEFFTA outside London. There is a huge excitement among industry personalities in entertainment, film, fashion, television, arts and sports who are pleased to see the prestigious award body hold it’s first awards gala in a top Birmingham city hotel today.

One of Birmingham’s leading promoter and artiste said, “it’s about time BEFFTA launched in Birmingham, we are honoured!”

BEFFTA Birmingham nominee Natalie Maragh lamented on receiving her nomination, “thank you so much, I’m overwhelmed.”

The award ceremony which is fully funded by philanthropist Dr Pauline Long is celebrating the 10th BEFFTA awards event in 10 cities. The celebration dubbed as #Beffta10years10Cities will see cities such as Glasgow, Cardiff, Manchester and Bristol host BEFFTA.  BEFFTA USA took place in Atlanta a few years ago which saw many personalities being honoured. The award ceremony is also tipped to launch in Canada, Toronto soon. Other cities launching BEFFTA will be announced shortly.

BEFFTA awards is the biggest and most prestigious award ceremony that celebrates the achievements of personalities globally in Africa, Caribbean and Asian personalities in UK, Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, Canada, Caribbean and USA in entertainment, film, fashion, television, arts, philanthropy, sports, leadership and entrepreneurship. BEFFTA prides itself in honouring under one roof both high profile personalities and hardworking grassroots personalities who are often overlooked.

With over 6000 guests in attendance  annually BEFFTA awards, founded by entrepreneur, TV presenter and philanthropist Dr Pauline Long in 2009 is back for the 8th year to celebrate greatness within the African, Caribbean and Asian communities.

The 8th year BEFFTA UK anniversary is expected to be celebrated in a very grand prestigious style bringing together several international and UK stars under one roof with a common goal to celebrate and honour both unknown and known hard working and extremely talented personalities in entertainment, film, fashion, television, arts and sports.

After self-funding the prestigious award ceremony for 7 years, BEFFTA awards has made history by being the only and first award ceremony to be fully funded by community leaders.

With legendary TV personality Sir Trevor McDonald OBE,  entertainment icon Sir Lenny Henry and music mogul Quincy Jones celebrated with BEFFTA UK lifetime achievement awards,  BEFFTA awards UK team looks forward to celebrating yet other deserving legend who will be revealed soon.

BEFFTA founder Dr Pauline Long said, “like every year BEFFTA 2016 is extremely special, in the spirit of giving back to the community everybody including the nominees will receive special prizes as we believe everybody is somebody.”

Zac Goldsmith praises the creative industry at the 7th BEFFTA Awards - London

Europe’s biggest award ceremony for black and ethnic minority  7th annual BEFFTA Awards UK took place during the last weekend of Black History Month 2015 at the grand venue Central Westminster attended by a host of stars from UK Europe, USA, Asia and Africa.  The Black Entertainment, Film, Fashion, Television, Arts and Sports Awards (BEFFTA), aimed at honouring the best entertainment , showbiz, leadership and sports personalities in UK and across the globe is still making history 7 years on by being the first of its kind ceremony  bringing together diverse talent and saw the movers and shakers of the black and Asian community in large numbers under one roof.

The glitzy red carpet event welcomed Hon. Zac Goldsmith MP on Friday 30th October as chief guest of honour while on day two 31st October Chief Bimbo Roberts Folayan was the guest of honour. 107 awards were issued over the two day event and over 500 nominees given recognition certificates. Football legend Didier Drogba was honoured with a BEFFTA Humanitarian award, while Eastenders actress Ellen Thomas, and inspirational women Irene Sinclair, Anni Domingo and Justina Mutale were honoured with BEFFTA Lifetime Achievement awards. Philanthropist Lord John Bird was also honoured with a humanitarian award for his contribution to humanity through The Big issue.

One man who has been in the film and television industry for over five decades was honoured with a big standing ovation. Waris Hussein received BEFFTA Lifetime Achievement award for the many years he has been a director of films and TV series. Waris is the first ever director of the much loved BBC series Dr Who.

BEFFTA founder Pauline Long said, “I’m extremely proud of what we have achieved. BEFFTA Awards has clocked 7 wonderful years cerebrating African, Caribbean and Asian personalities; raising and praising a truly talented community. It has become the annual community award of the year that thousands look forward to attending over two days.”
